Hello and Welcome,

Black Screen Solved

Did you guess the reason for the Black Screen effect some readers experienced?

Yes, it was option 3:

  • There is a bug in the Microsoft or Apple Operating Systems which override your colour settings.

Tech details:

In Web pages, the colours are given as 6-digit hex numbers (like #ABDDFF, for example), but there's a shortcut method using just 3 instead. But to get to 6-digits, each of the 3 digits is repeated.

In other words, #DFE is expanded to #DDFFEE.

So, some browsers and email clients don't know what to do with these abbreviated numbers and possibly interpret them as #000000 (which is NO red, NO green and NO blue) ie. BLACK.

See 2002 Document:

https://www.w3.org/TR/2002/WD-css3-color-20020418/#rgb-color

em { color: #f00 } /* #rgb */
em { color: #ff0000 } /* #rrggbb */
em { color: rgb(255,0,0) } /* integer range 0 - 255 */
em { color: rgb(100%, 0%, 0%) } /* float range 0.0% - 100.0% */

Sigh ... Ed
