Sydney Harbour
WEEKLY NEWSLETTER 8 - 13 MAY 2017

Hello and Welcome,

Committee News:

Changes to the PDF Constitution file have finally been made with PDFelement6 from Wondershare $81 and the final copy approved by Alex has been sent to our web master(s) for uploading. This is just a note that it will soon be available online.

The same applies to the Health and Safety and Rules and Procedures files which were easier to edit in Word format.

All documentation is on a USB which I would like to copy to the Group computer at the Friday Forum.

Josephine Wiseman

Meetings for This Week:

Programming - Tuesday 9th May - 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Come and show your projects, and see some others. We have a computer with a projector, so bring along picture files of your project and we'll project them on the wall. We have a broadband internet connection, so discussion can be wide ranging.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday May 9 at 6pm. We'll see some new microprocessor applications and programming examples.

Past meetings:

2017

At the April meeting Alex showed a schematic he designed using EasyEDA, the free online schematic, circuit simulator and PCB design program, and discussed a game he wrote using the Arduino and a cooperative task scheduler.

Friday Forum - Friday 12th May - 9:30 am - 12 noon

Josephine Wiseman will demonstrate her new projector from Kogan with a view to the Club buying one too.

Showing static screen-shots — the Kogan Product page will probably disappear when stocks run out.

More items of interest from Josephine:

  • Microsoft To-Do List - There is a 1 min video describing this new program
  • HOw to customise Windows defaults (you may have covered this in WIN 10 presentations)
  • Correction of case in Thunderbird with an Add-On eg HOw above corrected with ALT + 1
  • NBN 1.1 GB speeds ??? [ Ed: Do you mean Gbs (Giga BITS per second) not GBS (BYTES)? :-) ]
  • Windows Secrets Update - are we subscribed?
  • How to install an SSD
  • Creators Update to WIN 10
  • My adventures with Wondershare

Roger Foulds will then update the meeting on his further experiences with the iPad Pro.

Communications - Friday 12th May - 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

False News, Scams and Urban Myths: Where to find the Truths?

We look at options for checking the facts by online news sites, Urban Legends website snopes.com, and official Government ACCC's scamwatch.gov.au.
