Sydney Harbour
WEEKLY NEWSLETTER 7 - 12 AUGUST 2017

Hello and Welcome,

Club News:

I've secured Malwarebytes to come and give us a presentation in August.

They'll take the first presentation slot, and Armourcard is still coming as planned and will take the second slot.

Also per a request from a member, and a poll of the members present at the last main meeting, I will spend at least 10 or 15 minutes going through useful tips, tricks and apps for iPhones and Androids, which the members present seemed to think was a good idea.

So, August will be a jam-packed main meeting, and we'll have some great prizes — likely two licensed premium copies of Malwarebytes (which should work on three computers each), as well as one Armourcard card and one Armourcell card, both valued at $59.95 each, with licensed Malwarebytes copies worth around $100 each (for the 3-user license versions.)

Meetings This Week:

Programming - Tuesday 8th Aug - 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Come and show your projects, and see some others. We have a computer with a projector, so bring along picture files of your project and we'll project them on the wall. We have a broadband internet connection, so discussion can be wide-ranging.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday August 8 at 6pm. We'll see some new microprocessor applications and programming examples.

June, 2017

At the June meeting Alex described how he made a simple gamebox using a 16x2 LCD, Arduino and WAV module. A Task Scheduler was used to multitask button sensing, character animation and sound generation by the Arduino.

Martin showed how he hooked up an RFM95W radio module to an ESP32 processor in order to connect to TheThingsNetwork.

Steve spoke about using the ESP8266, a Wi-Fi chip released by Espressive. This chip enables many microcontroller designs to access Wi-Fi connectivity and web services at a low cost. Typical use is for a microcontroller to read a sensor periodically and send the data to a web site for display.

ASCCA News:

Members club pages go public for one week!

Hello ASCCA members,

You may have noticed that the login for the ASCCA website's member pages isn't working right now.

So that clubs are not inconvenienced, I have made access to these pages public while I get it fixed.

After 11 August, I'm expecting to have the login system fixed again, so you will need your username and password after that.
