FEBRUARY MAIN MEETING - AGM EDITION UPDATE

Apple HomePod and Google Home intelligent speakers

Hi everyone, Alex here.

First - I want you to know that the committee, at the last meeting, made the decision to move to the Carmichael Room, the one that is on the opposite side of the Mitchell Theatre next to the kitchen and fire escape door.

The increased cost of the Mitchell Theatre to $3267 pa with an attendance of less than 20 each month led the committee to decide to book the Carmichael double room at an annual saving of $1880. We think it will be successful and hope that you will all agree when we have settled in.

So, what do we have planned for our AGM meeting, beyond the AGM itself?

Well, I'll be demonstrating the Google Home and Apple HomePod intelligent/smart speakers, and how they work.

Apple's HomePod sounds especially amazing, and with Siri powering the system, you can ask it various things beyond simply playing any kind of music you want to hear.

Google Home is also very smart, powered by the Google Assistant. Both are also able to control various connected devices in your home.

There's also Amazon and its Alexa powered speakers, and while I don't have one of those yet, we can learn about these too on the night.

So... if you'd like to learn what all the hoopla is about with these new intelligent speakers, you'll find Tuesday night's meeting very interesting indeed!

Hope to see you there!

Cheers

Alex.
