WEEKLY NEWSLETTER 21 - 26 JANUARY 2019

Hello and Welcome,

MAIN MEETING TONIGHT, JAN 22, 2019

Main Meeting - Tuesday Jan 22nd - 5:30 pm (6:00 pm meeting start) - 8:00 pm

Apologies for the delay on this, here's the main meeting blurb for tonight:

January Main Meeting - Robots, eftpos, CES and more

A Happy New Year to all for 2019, we start the year with a 35-year old technology that has kept up with the times in ways you might not be aware of — eftpos!

Our special guest is Warwick Ponder, Head of Corporate Affairs at eftpos, who'll "ask us to ponder no longer on the future of Australia's own debit payments platform".

Almost 35 years after first being launched in Australia, eftpos has built new centralised infrastructure that sets it up for faster deployment of new payments products and services for Australians, which even includes being able to use eftpos by tapping a card onto a payment terminal, or using it with various smartphone wallets where you can tap, too.

Naturally, learning about the latest and greatest with eftpos, we'll take a look at the latest robot from Anki, the makers of the cute robot Vector, which I have with me and will demo on the night, and we'll look at some of the technologies launched at CES 2019.

There will be some prizes as well for the raffle, so apologies for the late email, and I hope to see you tonight!

Cheers and best regards,

Alex.
