Sydney Harbour

Hello and Welcome,

Committee News

Dear Kylie (SMSA),

SPCUG would like to cancel its SPCUG Seniors Meeting held at SMSA on Tuesday, 20 July 2021.

The current COVID restrictions are still of concern to the members, and they don't wish to attend a face-to-face meeting that close to the end of the lockdown, assuming it's not extended.

Ron Ferguson,

Dear Members,

Our Annual General Meeting, which was to be held on 24 March 2020, was cancelled due to COVID restrictions and so will now be held at 6:00 pm in the Carmichael Room of the SMSA at 280 Pitt St, Sydney Tuesday 27 July 2021. [ See LETTER 3, below — Ed. ]

The Committee is still calling for nominations for committee members. We also propose an amendment to the Constitution to allow any member to re-apply to be a committee member, irrespective of the length of their service.

If we don't receive sufficient nominations, we may be forced to consider closing the Group.

Therefore the committee advises members who have subscriptions due to not pay them until after the AGM has been held.

Ron Ferguson,

Dear Members,

We wish to advise that we will now hold our AGM as a virtual event using ZOOM at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, 27 July 2021.

This is a result of the ongoing COVID restrictions being implemented by the NSW government.

Extended lockdown announced — We will now reschedule the AGM for 24 August 2021 at 6:00 pm.

Ron Ferguson,

AGM — Nomination problem

I would have suggested we postpone the AGM until August to make sure we get the nominations we need.

I have looked at finding some way to get an electronic signature, but I can't see how to get one without paying a fee.

I presume we can accept electronic copies of signed nomination forms.

I can't see how we can have two people sign the same form if we can't get it to them.

Meeting TODAY

Web Design - Saturday, 17 Jul - 1:30 pm (2:00 pm meeting start) - 4:00 pm

We will be running this meeting using Zoom; details below.

Hi everyone,

Our next Web Design meeting is Saturday the 17th at 2 pm. In light of our Covid Crisis, I have cancelled the face-to-face meeting, although I suspect that we will still be in lockdown that day, as I suppose as I write this.

I have found some interesting sites. First, we have a site that will help optimize and store your photos.

Want to learn to code? I have found a site that helps you learn pretty much any language you like. The basic idea is you learn to code as you build a computer game. I will concentrate on Javascript as that's the one I need to learn.

I haven't gone into either site in full, so we can open them and see what's on offer.

There has been some discussion on ASCII characters and how they work within the group, and we will look at them.

Here are the Zoom Meeting details:
